Whisk Me Away
This is.. -yawn- This is nice… -She looks over, smiling at the top of Superboy’s head resting against her shoulder. She kisses it gently, leaning her head on his. This is a rare moment of defenselessness for him… He’s usually so guarded, so tense, so worked up. It’s nice to see him calm and relaxed. It’s pleasant, he has a small smile on his face as he sleeps and he looks happy. She’s happy, too. This is something they needed… Something… She yawns, closing her eyes and falling asleep herself…-
This is your Pilot speaking. We have successfully landed at Heathrow London Airport. Please remain seated until the seatbelt light has been turned off and the hostesses open the plane doors. I hope you had an excellent and restful ride and on behalf of our staff, welcome to London!
-Conner jolts awake as the sound of the intercom turning off and looks out the window. He grins and gently shakes M’gann’s shoulder- Hey! M’gann! We’re here! -He kisses her on the cheek and shakes her again with a bit more gusto- We’re in London, love! -Conner jumps into the discombobulated line of people rushing to get out and he grabs his bag from the overhead compartment before extending his free hand to her- C’mon, we have places to see. -He smiles at her, the stresses of the team and hero life all in the past and out of mind. Right now it’s just Conner Kent and M’gann M’orzz on a romantic weekend away in London.-
-Waking, groggy but in a dazed and happy way- Oh, what…? Wait— we’re here? Ah! Look out the window! -She wakes quickly, pressing her nose against the glass and watching the ground pass outside.- Oh, you can’t see when I’m this close… Hello, Megan! -She leans back in to him, smiling and taking his hand as the plane begins to descend.- …I’m so happy right now. -She realizes this slowly, a revelation. She is happy right now, unbridled and unmediated by anything like the mounting forces of the Light or by a mission coming in to disrupt their quality time. This is a moment. She savors it with closed eyes and a huge smile, letting the feeling seep in.-
-Within a minute or two, they were walking out of the airport and into the Heathrow outdoors.- We should find a cab and get into the city! I mean, we’re not in the city yet, right?
Uh, sure! Let me try grabbing a cab. -Conner lets go of his hand to stand on the corner and try flagging one down like he’s seen in the movies. After the fifth one passes him, Conner stands out in the street with his arms folded over his chest. Needless to say, a cab stopped for them.- Got a cab, M’gann. -He smirks as he opens the door and slides in after her- Uh, hey. Can you take us to the nearest erm… good hotel? I mean, where do people normally go to stay around here?
“Um, I’ve heard of this place— I think it’s a hotel? Buckingham palace?”
-The cab driver turns around a glares-
“Oh, um, okay, maybe not… Um… Is there a hostel or something?”
The cab driver nods and rolls his eyes before starting up the engine again and bringing them to a tall almost all glass building. Once they make it inside the hotel, Conner is overcome by the people coming in and out but somehow he makes it to the front desk. After what seemed like an hour of negotiation, Conner finally gets his hand on a room key. He pecks M’gann on the lips before taking her hand and leading her into the elevator car and heading to the 23rd floor of the hotel.
The view was spectacular considering this room was a quick find. While they weren’t facing any tourist sights, the window looked out onto the street and glowed with the city lights. Conner throws their only bag on the nearby arm chair and hugs M’gann from behind, kissing her shoulder tenderly. He’s already feeling the affects of the jetlag but he didn’t want to spoil the moment to flop on the bed and pass out.
“This is amazing…” M’gann had already tossed her bag aside and placed her hands against the the window, feeling the chill in her fingertips and on the tip of her nose as she pressed her face against the glass. She leaned into Conner’s solid, comforting form as he came up behind her, bringing out a smile on her face as she craned her head up to kiss him lightly on the jaw.
“You’re amazing. You’re the best…” She smiled as her lips pulled away, twisting in his grasp so she could turn to face him. “This is… I don’t even know how to explain how I’m feeling right now! I mean, Hello, Megan, I need to learn how to talk or something…” M’gann blushed, a very human action that made her stomach fluttery.
“But, I don’t know… Um, this is really special. And I’m happy that I’m spending it with you. So…” She bit her lip, glancing down at the cream-colored carpet and smiling sheepishly. The gap between their bodies closed as she pressed herself up against his chest, leaning their lips together as she laced her arms around the back of his neck.
Talking wasn’t one of her strong suits. Doing stuff? Slightly better at that.
